In the year 2000, Tim Harris of South Africa, having just completed Matric, left the city of Durban, to study his passion, Art Director & Design in Cape Town at the then top design school in the country – The Red & Yellow School of Creative Communication.
Three years later, having successfully graduated, he found employment in the competitive advertising industry and worked for both small and large agencies including FCB, Grey Global and JWT. He worked on many brands, most notably Heineken, Smirnoff, J&B, Shell, and Johnson & Johnson.
In 2010, he opted for a career change and took up a newly formed position at his Catholic parish; ‘Youth Ministry Coordinator’. The role required much innovation with a core focus being the establishment of a ministry to lead teens closer to Christ.
Following this, in 2014, Tim and a partner founded a nonprofit organization called The Catholic Leadership Academy to train young catholic leaders how to build, maintain and grow successful youth ministries in their local contexts under the guidance of their clergy.
Tim returned to the creative industry in January 2018 as a self employed creative consultant working across the disciplines of graphic, furniture and interior design.
His passion for creativity and design now coupled with his experience of, and insight into the Catholic Church position him well to contribute to the mission of CREC.
